October 1 - Thirty One Days of Horror Begins Today

This is an exercise to shake up the beans in the tin can that used to be my brain.  I've had a falling out with writing, and it used to be so therapeutic for me.  My challenge is to keep up this blog for 31 days straight.  So...what better incentive to write than to celebrate October, fall, and all the creepy-crawlies that come along with this time of the year.

I enjoy fall, and I think October might be my favorite month.  Here in Colorado, the leaves are still changing colors, the temperature falls, and with that comes the nostalgic first smells of wood-burning stoves (which I swear smells different than campfire).  The days draw shorter, and more night means more time to explore the dark side.

To make myself clear, I am not a fair-weather horror fan.  No, I'm a 365-day a year, skeleton-hanging, spider-loving, black-wearing girl.  Amongst the fine-art prints I have adorning my walls, I decorate my house with souvenirs of the macabre variety: ravens, skulls, skeletons, pictures of cemeteries, and I have a black cat (who is super awesome and not scary one bit).

But, enough rambling.  31 days of horror begins today.  I chose deliberately not to limit this to 31 days of horror movies.  First, I'm not sure I could pull of 31 movies in 31 days.  After all, I am employed, and it would be hard to get a movie in every single day.  So. I am going to talk about movies, books & comic books, haunted houses, tv shows, art, podcasts, and anything else that might come to mind.  I'm exploring various sub-genres and looking at both old and new.

Now my only problem is deciding what goes first because I've been building up a collection in preparation and now I want to play with all the goodies!
